NewsStuart accompanied the Madison Youth Choir when they sang for the Dalai Lama in Madison on May 16, 2010. Stuart has several interesting projects going, besides the usual mix of performances and songwriting. Working with WECA, new songs:Stuart's book for kids on the history and significance of the song "We Shall Overcome" was published by Clarion Books in January of 2010. It's received glowing reviews. I'm A Teacher, Not a Baby Sitter Stuart has worked with the Wisconsin Early Childhood Association (WECA) since 2008 year to document the work of caring for young children. He's written a dozen new songs about this critical work. He's presented them around the country, and a new CD is available. See the recordings page, or www.ImATeacherNotABabysitter.com. New Biography: Lucious Fairchild
Stuart's next book for the Badger Biography series is about a Wisconsin war hero and governor, named Lucius Fairchild. Stuart has just finished editing the book with the Wisconsin Historical Society's Press editors Bobbie Malone and John Motoviloff, who have done a wonderful job helping to bring Lucius into focus for elementary aged students. This book should be out in 2011. New Book: Yip Harburg. Stuart is writing a book about Yip Harburg, the lyricist for "Over the Rainbow", "Brother can you spare a dime?" and "Paper Moon." Yip was a influential writer, and a committed social activist. Father Groppi Stuart's Badger Biography of Father Groppi is in process and should be out in 2013. Father Groppi was a an important civil rights activist in Milwaukee in the 1960s.
