Singing All Over the World

Since before we can remember

we’ve gathered round the fire

like the sparks into the dark

our voices rising higher

Singing all over the world tonight

singing all over the world

you and me and a whole lot of light

singing all over the world tonight

singing all over the world

In an old saugaro cactus

hoots a small elf owl

canyon wren

song descends

and a coyote starts to howl

In an old church basement

piano plays a hymn

part by part the voices start

stronger as they blend

he’s had a hard day working

seemed like everything went sour

he regains his wits as he scrubs his pits

and bellows in the shower

since romeo and juliet’s

romantic escapades

tender tunes and magic moons

make wistful serenades

she wakes up from a nightmare

and cries in her father’s arms

but with a lullaby and a gentle sigh

she dreams off far from harm
